Safety In Mind - Stage 2
Any training event introducing new knowledge, skills or attitudes needs reinforcement at a later date to avoid training decay. Human Factors
training, such as Safety in Mind (SIM), is no different.
During the SIM course participants are introduced to many new ideas aimed at raising awareness, influencing attitudes and behaviour.
To ensure these changes have a lasting effect it is important for them to be refreshed and reinforced regularly. Omega Training Solutions
offer a SIM follow up course - Safety in Mind - Stage 2.
This course aims to reinforce the concepts introduced during the initial SIM course as well as developing some of the participants'
'Human Factors' skills. Having covered Human Factors theory during SIM this course aims to be practical giving attendees an opportunity
to develop these skills. Like SIM, Safety in Mind revisited uses examples from aviation to show how poor behaviour affects safety and
draws the parallels with the possible behaviour of an organisations employees.
The content of Safety in Mind Stage 2, as always, is structured to fit the particular needs of an organisation.
Possible subject areas are:-
- Revision of key topics from SIM
- Threat & Error Management - Introduction to behavioural markers that help in avoiding, trapping and mitigating threats & errors.
These markers can then be used in subsequent exercises to give participants feedback on their skills.
- Communications - Exercises with feedback aimed at improving sending/receiving skills
- Teamwork - Exercises with feedback aimed at improving participants effectiveness as team leaders/members
- Decision Making - Theory and practice at Tactical Decision Exercises
- Situation Awareness(SA)- Generic exercises to increase SA strategies
- Emotional Intelligence(EI) - Participants given feedback on their EI
- MBTI - In depth feedback on personality type
- Behaviour - Role play in work situations to increase skills of staying in adult mode where appropriate
- Feedback - Practice in the skill of giving and receiving feedback
