Whereas in the past the Captain’s role focussed exclusively on the operation of the aircraft this new business environment demands more if the company is to be successful. The Captain is increasingly seen as the company’s ‘senior manager on the spot’ with the ability to manage the operation, providing maximum commercial benefit for the company and excellent service for the customers. Thoughtful use of the PA system and communication with the passengers can often turn an unavoidable delay into a positive experience with good service recovery skills.
This ability to show leadership to the team on the day in the best interest of the customer whilst making safe, sound decisions showing due regard to the customers’ and business’ needs can make a big difference to the commercial success of the company.
Providing the knowledge, skills and attitude enabling Captains to be leaders and ambassadors for their company requires high standards of training. Omega Training Solutions has long experience within major airlines in Europe and North America of designing and delivering bespoke training programmes aimed at new or existing Captains to provide exactly those attributes.
Our training programmes are typically 4 days long. During that time the participants will be introduced to the essential skills of leadership, the concepts of customer service, understanding the business need and being introduced to the many company resources available to them in managing the operation to best effect.
