Leadership is an elusive concept. Are leaders born or made? Can Leadership be trained?

Traditionally little or no training has been given to those promoted to positions of authority or responsibility. We have assumed that in choosing the right people for the job we have identified those with Leadership Qualities. Having good personal qualities and a certain amount of drive can make people effective in a management role.

To become seen as a good leader as well as an effective manager requires additional qualities. Research has shown that high levels of Emotional Intelligence are a good indicator of those qualities.
